Bates Motel on Netflix (gives back story of how it all began before Psycho... excellent series. Can't wait for Season 2 to come out)
We watched a movie last night that will scare you... it might have even more impact on ex-JWs. It is based on a true story of demons and possession, but not your typical horror movie.
The Conjuring (yes, I did leave the light on) ... scariest movie I've watched in a LONG time.

i would like some advice from those that are inpartial, and are familiar with the teachings of jw.
i studied with a wonderful jw couple weekly for 3 years.
The writers of WT literature are masters of manipulation. They use deceptive and "suggestive" language, to make it sound like they are saying something, but not really saying it. They lead the reader to draw "their own conclusions," as long as they agree with what they are reading. They are very slick in their publications.
Observation from my BS of 3+ years (on and off). How to win someone new over to the "Truth":
1. Convince student that everyone else is lying, therefore we are evidently telling you the truth. 2. Warn student that people will try to convince you not to listen to the Truth, because they would not want to admit they have been fooled their whole lives. 3. How does it feel to know YOU have been lied to your whole life?? (direct quote from my BS teacher) 4. Where else can you go?
Conclusion: JW's have the Truth... Do you want to be "In the Truth," or would you prefer to join the Great Harlot of Bablyon?
Oh yeah, I almost forgot... The world is ending soon, so you'd better make the right choice, before it's too late!

jgnat: On breadth of knowledge it's a slam-dunk. They don't and can't match college education.
They can't match middle school. Grammar and spelling do count, if you want to claim to be more educated than the rest of the world.

Ask a JW to compose a paragraph.
I would never hire a JW proofreader.
(I guess they don't really need to know how to write... only how to read and repeat what it says in the paragraph).

...and probably think they might have been able to save your life, in time. (blood guilt is real to JWs)
People who belong to high-control groups often don't realize that they are being manipulated.
I have watched my grown, thinking parents become blindly obedient JWs, who parrot WT doctrine as "Truth."
There are a lot of really good people being controlled by the WT Faithful & Discreet Slave today. Those same people will look you in the eye and deny it.

i heard my witness friend that if the name jehovah is the incorrect pronounciation from the hebrew scriptures, then jeremiah is the incorrect way to say jeremiah's name.
i wonder if this is true, because if it is, that would make jws the true religion.
right?.
If we were supposed to call God by his name, I think Jesus would have told us how to say it. He called him "Father."

I have been looking for the search feature also, but haven't found it either.
I went to the online library, since I was pretty sure that there was a search feature there... The daily text came up. Revelation 14:7 "The hour of the judgment by (God) has arrived."
OMJ! Talk about fear tactics to enforce obedience. Stand firm in your faith, brothers!
I agree they should make it easier to search their site, since the last JW who came to my door told me I could search ANY question and get the answer!
I think they want to make you hunt through the different topics, and be "led" where they want you to go... Just the same way I felt when we were doing our Bible study. I keep finding the most interesting information on their site... they pose their own questions, and come up with the most rewarding answers. I didn't know Truth could be so fascinating and adaptable to any situation.

I might make a point to keep some TTATT info in my purse, so I can leave it on windshields of JWs.
Now I don't have to wait for them to come to my door.
